Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel says if it may deliver back the motorist killed last weekend, Anthoine Hubert, he would rather Formula 1 be dull.
22, hubert, died after enduring a effect from Western Juan Manuel Correa at Spa’s automobile on Saturday.
World champion Vettel, part of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, says safety must be improved.
“I think there is things we could do improve and better,” he said.
Last weekend crash is being investigated by the FIA, although police have, since impounded the automobile belonging to Giuliano Alesi, before crashing into the obstacles, the motorist who Hubert avoided.
Correa was moved to intensive care of Britain after suffering a spinal injury and broken legs.
The conversation over safety in motorsport comes just five races after F1 was tagged as”boring” after an uneventful French Grand Prix in June.
“Some people believe Formula 1 is too safe and too dull,” Vettel included at a news conference prior to this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
“But I would rather have boring Formula 1 championships forever and deliver Anthoine backagain.
“To some extent it [risk ] is a part of motor racing – it is part of the thrill – but clearly the past couple of years are a wake-up using the departure of Jules [Bianchi] and now Anthoine.
“What occurred could not be worse. We need to have a image of a good deal of components to draw any conclusions is not right and exactly what everybody would expect although I think it will be examined in a very thorough manner which is right.
“I am a fan of carrying races at Spa because it is a great track that has a fantastic history and a lot of the corners are unique, but for certain after what happened we need to have a very close look and have some time to understand exactly what occurred.”
Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger will be the last drivers to expire during an F1 race weekend in Imola in 1994. Once Jules Bianchi expired nine months after suffering severe head injuries in a crash in the 2014 Western Grand Prix there wasn’t another driver fatality in F1 before 2015.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc dedicated his triumph from Spa for his former friend and rival Hubert, and stated that while he had been aware of the dangers involved with racing,”it is always a shock when something like this happens”.
Leclerc added:”Anytime you proceed at the speed it will always be dangerous. On the flip side, every time I am entering the car I am going in with the same mindset, and that I think we all are attempting to do this even.
“When you are receiving in your car you are attempting to maintain the zonetrying to consider what you need to do and you also need to race as hard as possible to finish as high as possible.”
The usage of asphalt run-off areas has also been questioned in the days after the crash of Hubert, together with some arguing that the dangers drivers are prepared to take and prevent a vehicle from bouncing back on course following a crash would be limited by dirt traps.
“Some of it’s correct, the Tarmac run-off places do invite people to keep pushing since it does not have an immediate consequence,” said Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg.
“There always has to be the ideal balance somewhere, and maybe we should have some customised options for corners like Eau Rouge in the way that we don’t really see that corner until you come up the mountain.”
