Japanese GP Practice One: Valtteri Bottas ahead of Lewis Hamilton

Valtteri Bottas edged out Lewis Hamilton within an impressive beginning for Mercedes of what is set to prove a Japanese GP weekend in the start.
With the impact of Typhoon Hagibis qualifying moved at Suzuka and meaning all Saturdays running was cancelled – in 2am UK time, four weeks – groups have two clinic sessions to prepare their new automobiles.
In warm, bright and calm conditions on Friday afternoon, Mercedes created by far the fastest start using Bottas and Hamilton one of the chasing pack.
Bottas, despite a previous near-miss with Ferraris Charles Leclerc, set the rate with a 1:28.731, 0.076s apparent of championship leader and four-time Suzuka victor Hamilton.
Sebastian Vettel a winner in F1s sole figure-of-eight circuit, was next in the lead Ferrari ahead of team-mate Leclerc and Max Verstappens Red Bull.
Since they bid to rebound to the current surge of Ferrari mercedes trialled a few updates.
