Mesut Ozil staying at Arsenal until 2021 and hits out at illness criticism

Mesut Ozil says that he is going to stay at Arsenal.
Ozil has just featured in two of Arsenal’s 11 games this season under head coach Unai Emery, and admits»seeing from home» has made him»feel helpless».
But the attacking midfielder has advised The Athletic he is going nowhere, saying:»I have a contract until the summer of 2021 and now I will be staying until afterward.
«When I signed up the new dealI thought of it very carefully and said it had been one of the most significant conclusions of my footballing career. I didn’t wish to stay for two more years or just one, I needed to commit my future and the club wanted me to do the same.
«You are able to go through hard times, such as this, but that’s not any reason to run off and I am not going to. I’m here until at least 2021.»
Ozil has really come under-fire among fans for his lack on matchdays but has rejected ideas he utilizes his health as an excuse.
«I also get very frustrated when I miss a game through illness and people question if it’s genuine. Yes, it happened a few days – in the winter – but what am I supposed to do?
«If you knew me, you’d know it requires a great deal for me to miss a match and I have never used illness as a justification. Actually the reverse. Several games and I played with with when I was sick or had accidents.
«Most players do not play when injured or ill – it influences your game, you can’t afford everything but I was always available unless it had been hopeless.»
